THE OLIVE TREE ECOMUSEUM

In the heart of an extraordinary place, a 20th century former lime kiln, the Olive Tree reveals itself to the five senses. Thanks to interactive and audiovisual tools and sensory and fun activities, visitors of all ages will discover the civilization of the Olive Tree, from the biology of the tree to its mythology, from the traditional elaboration of soaps to the use of oil as lighting fuel, from the pruning of the olive tree to the harvesting of the fruit, and from the making of olive oil to the formal activity of tasting, each stage of the journey is an invitation to travel, see and taste Provence and the Mediterranean.
On a big screen, you can see olive pickers from Provence, Spain, Greece or Lebanon harvest their fruit and take it to the mill. Once the film is finished, stroll around the windows whose objects conjure up the past and present culture of the mythical tree. Or simply sit on a bench and listen to the music of the words the tree evokes, the stories of travelers and poets. A permanent exhibition and temporary contemporary art events mark this place all year round.

OLIVE OIL TASTING

Take advantage of your visit to the Ecomuseum to discover the olive oils of our producers by enjoying the formal tasting and learning to distinguish between the different fruits of these oils.

FRUITY GREEN : early harvest, whose oil is characterized by very marked vegetal aromas, accompanied by a bitterness and a more or less intense pungency. Ideal on salads, grilled fish and carpaccio.

FRUITY MATURE : harvested when ripe, a sweet olive oil that can have fruity or floral aromas. Ideal for desserts and pastries.

FRUITY BLACK : harvested at maturity, the olives are then fermented, a sweet olive oil without bitterness with aromas reminiscent of black olives, undergrowth and roasting. Ideal on hot vegetables and meat in sauce or grilled.

ARTISANAL ICE-CREAM MAKER & TEA ROOM

This new friendly area offers you the opportunity to share a moment of gourmet relaxation with a Terre d'Oc tea or a fruit juice from the Durance valley, which will gently accompany our biscuits and our home-made ice creams.
